Women's Devotional: Shut The Door on Fear and Pursue Your Dreams

God has not given you the spirit of fear, you can stop being fearful or afraid...

Three men came along a bush path.

As the first man walked along, he saw a huge snake lying in the middle of the road. He screamed and was too shaken to keep moving.

The second man, walking faster, slowed down a bit when he observed that the man in front of him was shaking and not moving. When he saw the snake, he took many steps backwards from the first man.

The third man approached the scene, examined the snake from a short distance, and observed that the snake had died. He took a stick and moved it out of the road so that others coming along that path could go their way without being afraid.

Although this story has been told many times and in different versions, the lesson from it is unchanging: Fear paralyses

Most of us are many years behind in God's plan for our lives because we are too afraid to take our next steps. We second-guess ourselves, thinking we will never be good enough.

Maybe God has called you into a new industry or a space where women are scarce, as was the case of Joyce Meryer when she was called to preach. Not many women preachers were in the pulpit at the time, but she was courageous.

Perhaps your fear may not be a new industry or a field that is anti-women. Maybe you are asking yourself, "What if I fail?" or "What will people say?" One thing you should note is that fear has no good in store for you. Rather, it keeps you in one spot--stagnant and in a place of limitation.

But you can maximize your life and purpose today if you say no to fear.

Have you thought about what fear is keeping you from taking your next steps or going after your dreams? Identify it and write it down. Ask yourself how your life could change if you summoned the courage to shut the door on that fear.

Think of the endless possibilities that will be available to you when you step out with courage rather than stay hidden.

If you were given the choice to choose one of the men in the story above, who would you choose to be? The fearful or the courageous?

Every day comes with the opportunity to step up and follow your dreams. Shut the door on fear and step out in faith and with courage.

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Prayer: Thank you Lord for giving me a sound mind. I refuse to be afraid or live in fear. I step out to be all you have destined me to be.
